Electric Saturdays :: Slothfella – Savage Mountain

Jun 13th, 2015 : by :: Tags: , ,
In the wake of the most epic, totally rad thing to ever happen to the internet (I’m talking of course about the release of the 80’s throwback mini-movie, the action-packedKung Fury), I’m in a chiptune, 80’s arcade, David Hasselhoff “True Survivor” kinda mood this morning. Seemingly out of nowhere, this guy by the name of Slothfella drops a full-length synthwave monster mamajam, Savage Mountain, that has me waxing nostalgic hardcore. I can almost see the VHS tracking lines as I’m listening. And let’s not forget, friends…Be kind, rewind.

Electric Saturdays : Kindness :: Cyan

Nov 15th, 2014 : by :: Tags: ,

This song from Kindness, aka Adam Bainbridge, has been around for a few years but I wanted to post it in light of his recent collaboration with Robyn. Kindness always brings sophistication and understated UK elegance to his music…which is essentially just pop music. “Cyan” is a bit of Arthur Russell, a bit of disco and a bunch of Mr. Bainbridge’s tranquil charisma. “Cyan” also happens to be one of my favorite tracks of the last few years. Enjoy.

Electric Saturdays : Aphex Twin :: Stone in Focus

Aphex Twin Ambient

In honor of Aphex Twin’s upcoming release, I’ll be posting a smattering of his best. These tracks remind us all what a *cliche alert* highly-influential genius he is. This track comes from his second and most experimental album: Selected Ambient Music Vol. II. Unlike Vol. I, Vol. II disregards beats all together and album consists mostly of just timbre. Obviously not for everyone, Selected Ambient Music Vol. II is one of the most immersive and densely creative albums ever released. Listening to it now, it’s very easy to hear its lasting influence on more popular artists like Radiohead. Enjoy. /p>
