Usually I pour my heart and soul into each and every post on Newdust, spending hour-upon-hour crafting my description of the artist’s style and sound, but this time I’ll let Alexander Trust provide his own. He describes his EP Maneuver North America as “what a dance floor version of Boards of Canada might sound like.” Well put indeed, sir. Happy Monday, Newdusters! Also keep an eye out for Alexander Trust as he tours from coast to coast in May.
Check out the very surreal video for Yip Deciever’s bangin’ single “Get Strict”. I have been HUGE fans of these guys since seeing them live in DC back in January. (Read my review of the show here.) The band is made up of Davey Pierce and Nicholas Dobbratz, both members of Of Montreal. Grab their EP here and pay attention, because these guys are destined for top 40.
DC resident DJs Gavin Holland and Chris Burns have released a great new three song EP under the moniker Party Bros. The record is out via their new label Mysteries of the Mind. “Heartstones” is by far my favorite off the record and watch out for the epic saxophone riff around 1:23… it will change your life. Buy the vinyl here and get real.
Here’s some sweet Scotland dreampop for your case-of-the-Mondays. The Machine Room’s latest EP Love From A Distance is a sweet reverb’d shoegaze gem with some killer vibes, due out March 5th. If you’re newdustin’ out in the UK, check them out at The Wee Red Bar @ Edinburgh College of Art, Saturday March 3rd.
I stumbled upon this gem, thanks to a friend of mine, today. Waterstrider is a sextet that hails from Berkeley, CA and creates chill, fluid, percussion led tracks. Back in August, the six-piece released its debut EP, Constellation, which you can listen to in its entirety below and purchase for $3-5 on the band’s Bandcamp. There, you can also download the record’s title track for free. An LP is supposedly in the works, so keep your eyes peeled. I know I am.
Best Friends hails from Chicago, and specializes in pop-dance gems. The production duo/band’s self-titled EP has been on repeat for days and some tracks have already made it on to my party/workout list. Check out the “video” for “So Far Away” above (my personal favorite off the EP), and the BANGER “Body Rock”. It is not hard to imagine Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, or even Katy Perry singing either of these songs. Grab Best Friends’ EP on iTunes (link here) and party down!

Great track from We’re No Heroes off their latest EP Quiet Colours. “Empty Beat” brings us these great “math-pop” instrumentals, in the same vein as Foals or Interpol, with an 80s post-punk vibe & a killer outro. Solid guitar work, precise drumming, & fantastic vocals dominate this 4-track EP. Definitely worth a listen.
These songs are available for listening purposes only for a limited time. If you are an artist or label that would like your songs removed, please email us and we'll remove them immediately
