Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe: Skog, Kommode, & The Whitest Boy Alive
|
I have a confession to make. I’m in love with Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. And by I, I mean more specifically my ears, and by Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe, I mean more specifically the music they make. This post goes out to Øye & Bøe, and to the music they’ve made pre- and post-Kings of Convenience. Their long history (back to grade school) is news to me. I was unaware up until about ten minutes ago that they were in a rock group called Skog (which is Norwegian for “forest”) back in the mid ’90s, consisting of the duo plus Anders Waage Nilsen & Øystein Gjærder Bruvik. I was intrigued, and found their entire freshman (and only) release Tom Tids Tale streaming on the KOC Appreciation Page. They split after the release, and later joined back in 1999 as Kings of Convenience to create soft, acoustic, piano-heavy folk-pop. But in between KOC records, Øye has been rockin’ it with The Whitest Boy Alive & Bøe reunited with Nilsen & Bruvik as the trio Kommode. So before this post becomes a novel, here are three fantastic tracks from Skog, Kommode, & The Whites Boy Alive. |
