Grasscut – High Down

Grasscut High Down

Relatively new Ninja Tune signees, Grasscut, have released their first EP, High Down, which takes all the things we love about music and combines them into three excellent songs.

Grasscut makes their Ninja Tune debut with this impressive release. Each of the three songs on High Down are so uniquely different and amusing that it’s really hard to stick this album in any one particular genre. Grasscut members Andrew Phillips and Marcus O’Dair blend vocal, classical, electronic, and folk elements together in a truly harmonious and rather addicting fashion. What they’ve effectively done here is grab the listener’s attention, and leave them wanting more. But you have to hear the EP in its entirety to understand and fully appreciate what I am talking about. With that being said, I will let this album speak for itself. Feel free at any time to make your way over to Ninja Tune’s website, or several other mp3 sites on the web such as Zooloader.com or DJ Tunes.com and be the proud owner of this excellent introduction to a group that we will definitely be hearing more about in the future. Here’s my favorite track, “Swallow The Day”, which had some elements in it that reminded me alot of Murcof’s work on Martes and Remembranza. Hear for yourself:
