Faintly hinting at the melody… yet masked in static, fuzzy synth bits, and fluttery drums, the beginning of Hooray for Earth’s latest single, “Never,” doesn’t quite prepare the listener for the sudden onslaught of electronic bliss. Clearly borrowing from 80’s electro-pop, “Never” is 4 minutes of catchy synth riffs and dancy refrains. Although Hooray for Earth certainly isn’t breaching any new waters with this track, and such waters may seem shallow given the excessively poppy chorus and such trite lines as, “…the world’s all coming now, you and me alone,” there’s no doubting its instantly likable nature. Listen up and I doubt you’ll have any qualms once it’s stuck in your head.
