Imogen Heap / Back Ted N Ted / Tim Exile live @ The Granada Theater 11/17, Dallas TX

This past Tuesday I got the chance to see Imogen Heap’s sold out show at The Granada Theater, one of Dallas’s most beloved venues. The show was fantastic. She mainly stuck to songs off her latest album Ellipse, released less than two months ago. She also did an excellent and very unique version of the fan favorite, “Hide And Seek” (Speak For Yourself), during encore. Imogen had the entire audience participating, having us sing “ahhhh” in a harmonized drone throughout the first verse of the song as she sang a’capella. She was backed by a terrific drummer who’s name I didn’t catch, Ryan Breen (aka Back Ted N-Ted) on guitar, and Tim Exile on synth, who were also her two openers for the night. Above is a video of “Canvas” captured that night by Sylwester Zabielski. The group was accompanied during this song by cellist Buffi Jacobs of The Polyphonic Spree. Tim Exile’s set consisted of complex beat boxed loops done through his modified joystick synthesizer. Ryan Breen started off the show, using a loop pedal throughout his one-man set to form the rhythm sections of his songs as he sang his heart out and spastically danced in place. We all loved him. Here’s my favorite song from his setlist, “999 Buttons.”
