I’ve been on a Spoon kick since their latest release Transference came out last month. So naturally I decided to watch “Stranger Than Fiction” to bask in the glory of its soundtrack, consisting mainly of Spoon songs. One song in particular always tickles my Spoon bone, and that’s “The Book I Write” that plays during end credits……….. Long live Spoon!

The first four albums in the Spoon discography, music that most of us have grown extremely attached to over the last decade, will be available for download worldwide in high-quality FLAC format on September 29th. And once you’ve added those to your collection, you might as well swing by your favorite record store and grab them on vinyl if you don’t already own them. Here are two Spoon classics off “Soft Effects” and “Girls Can Tell”, and you can head over to Spoon’s website for more free downloads.

Merge Records announced last Friday that Spoon’s latest material since 2007’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga will be released tomorrow on their 3-song single Got Nuffin. |

| Can you remember the first time you heard a Spoon song? For me it was during the summer of ‘02 when Kill The Moonlight’s “The Way We Get By” earned Britt Daniel and Co. some long-overdue attention. Since then, I haven’t heard a single song written by Daniel that hasn’t tickled my fancy. Though I must admit their 2007 single “The Underdog” ’s horn section made me cry a little inside, (they weren’t tears of joy, unfortunately) but there’s no doubt in my mind that Got Nuffin will have my eardrums giggling with delight. (On a side note, is it just me or does Spoon have the sweetest album covers known to man?) You can pre-order Got Nuffin here, and while you’re anxiously awaiting its arrival, here’s a dusty gem from their 5-song EP Love Ways. |
