From across the pond, here’s a killer track from Dirty Androids upcoming EP Everglades / Diver. Set to release August 8th, the 2-track EP is one part chill, one part dubstep, and equal parts awesome. DJs, bust this EP out on the dance flo’… it’s about to get real up in here! Here’s track one, “Everglades.”

When it comes to Danniel Radall’s sensual disco-pop, I feel like I have been sleeping on his blissful tracks forever. Today I can’t take it any more, and I have to share. Trust me you do not know you were missing. Hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico, this young man brilliantly delivers some seriously eighties-inspired tracks, staying off of the beaten path of pointless nostalgia by combining this vintage spirit to a broad range of musical influences, from new-wave and disco-house to funk and even hip-hop. The result, featured in two EPs, “La Femme” and “Pardo” both released through Amdiscs, is a collection of high quality tracks that bring back memories of Summer and love, each one better than the other.
|
And don’t get me started on this young man’s blissful remixes of Keep Shelly in Athens and Sun Glitters. Check out two personal favorites below to see why Danniel Radall is indeed the real deal, and get more (for free!) here.

Say hello to Gardens & Villa, one of the newest acts on the Secretly Canadian roster. The Santa Barbara-based outlet’s music sounds like Southern California — chill, relaxed, and stoney. It’s the kind of music you listen to during a summer bike ride or beach bonfire, making the July 5th release date of the band’s self-titled debut record perfect timing. For now, the quintet has a limited edition 7″ up for grabs here, with the new wave-influenced “Black Hills” as its A-side and “Orange Blossom,” a funky track that features the flute(!!!), as its B-side.

Water is a band from San Francisco that was apparently created following some encounter in a park and the random decision to build synthesizers in a basement. Which turns out to be one hell of a good idea, given the outcome of the whole process: “Apartment House”, released in February, is a stunning debut album, and a brilliant demonstration that chillwave can be just as much about dream pop than about rock, with Water’s perfect combo of pop vocals, impeccable rythms and impressive synth work. Definitely one of my favorite releases of 2011 so far.

| Patrick Lee is a musician and producer from Denver, Colorado. And, trust me, a gifted one. We learn from the succinct and a tad crazy bio on his website that he has always shown an overwhelming love for music, and he released his first record in 2000. He has been one busy guy since : The Last Thing is his 25th album, and a mixtape also came out earlier this year. On The Last Thing Patrick Lee offers some deliciously vintage tunes, mostly influenced by jazz, rock and blues. With a twist of modernity here and there, sometimes touches of hip-hop, sometimes hints of electronic music. “I Stand Before You” is a one-of-a-kind combo of a jazzy background, hip-hop beats and a surprising chipmunk-like voice sample. |
On the paper, this shouldn’t probably work. But you should definitely give it a listen or two because Patrick Lee knows how to work his magic and, hey, this happy tune is just what you need on a Sunday afternoon.
