Here’s a little diddy off Little Eichmanns‘ latest, Hologram. I hear a little Animal Collective in this song, but it’s not enough that would cause me to classify it as one of the many imitators that have come and gone since Merriweather was bestowed upon us. That’s a good thing by the way. I also hear a hint of Beck in the vocals of this album, but maybe that’s just me. Swing by Little Eichmanns’ bandcamp page to listen to and download the rest of the album for free. |

I’ve been saving this song for an Electric Saturday post, but I have yet to find a good song to pair up with such a standalone gem. So here it is. Jazica from Southampton just released their latest EP Cut Shapes featuring “Follow the Rhythm”, which was featured on Tom Robinson’s best of unsigned podcast, and has had numerous plays on BBC Six Music radio. You can stream the entire EP here. |

I was drawn to the fifteenth anniversary party of The Double Door in Chicago on a whim. These guys were performing a free show, and until that point, I hadn’t heard much about them. The crowd was one of the most diverse I had seen at a concert in a long time. When Little Dragon took the stage, the energy felt was nothing other than electric. Hailing from Sweden, with a Japanese lead singer, the group creates music that is soulful with electronica influences. Their CD, “Machine Dreams” is definitely worth picking up and listening to from start to finish. The Swedish music scene has given us talents like Miike Snow and Lykke Li, Little Dragon raises the bar even higher. |

Bluegrass is not normally a genre I tend to dive into, but when tastefully combined with something danceable, wonderful things can happen. The Seedy Seeds are able to use the banjo and mix it with electronic beats. They bring us back to simple Americana, while captivating modern ears. The trio recently performed at New York’s CMJ festival, an annual showcase of burgeoning indie music stars. If you are someone that has a tendency to listen to such artists as The Books, you will definitely enjoy these guys. |
