Definitely my new favorite album, Tallest Trees‘ latest work “The Ostrich Or The Lark” out on Other Electricities August 17th, has everything you could possibly hope for. But for lack of a good way to describe their well-crafted sound, I’ll let the video take over from here. Be sure and grab your copy of this album when it hits the streets in August. |

Brooklyn-based Buke & Gass (pronounced byook & gace) are Arone Dyer on the “buke” (a self-modified six-string former baritone ukulele) and Aron Sanchez on the “gass” (a guitar-bass hybrid of his own creation). The song “Medulla Oblongata” is short and sweet, and will keep you on your toes. It’s amazing how much noise and rhythm can come from a just 2-piece. Their forthcoming self-produced full-length, Riposte, is set for release on September 14th on Brassland. |

Death In Plains‘Mustard Polo EP is the perfectly noisy, experimental pop record for the summer. Here’s Enrico Bocchioletti’s music video for “Whirlwind,” off Mustard Polo’s b side.

I’ve only heard a couple songs from the upcoming Breathe Owl Breathe album Magic Central, and I couldn’t be more intrigued. This trio live and work in a Lincoln Log cabin in deep rural Michigan, where these songs were written and recorded, born out of their experiences living there. Magic Central is set to release 9/28 on Hometapes. I’m really diggin’ this one, “Swimming.” |

Here’s another gem from Ireland. Jape was formed in 2003 as a side project by Richie Egan while playing in The Redneck Manifesto (really sweet experimental rock band). They’ve made some noise since then, winning the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2008 with Ritual. Richie’s headin’ to the studio in June, so until then here are a couple home demos of his latest, “Borrowed Time With Peace” and “Ocean of Frequency.” |

| This is one of the more mesmerizing live videos you’ll see these days, with an excellent payoff I might add. It’s like you’re watching a lava lamp, or something equally trance-inducing. Very tribal-esque, and loud in all the right places. In other words, it’s amazing. This is Zs performing “Acres of Skin” off their upcoming record New Slaves during a live session for terroreyes.tv, Wednesday on March 17th during SXSW 2010 in a backyard in Austin, TX.

I had an itch to check out Dayve Hawk’s (Memory Tapes) blog (We’re Tapes) yesterday and it turns out he just finished a remix of Tanlines‘ “Real Life”. Check it out! |

Here’s the first video off Swedish folksters Fredrik’s (say that 10 times fast) upcoming album Trilogi. I get sort of a Matthew Bellamy vibe from this guy’s voice by the way, but that’s probably just me. This video is pretty sweet, and I think the album art is even sweeter. Be on the lookout for it’s January 26th release on The Kora Records. And in case you were wondering: “vinter” means winter, and “barn” means children. |
