Ever since I discovered FaltyDL’s Bravery last week, I’ve been on a trip-hop, IDM kick. I Mog‘d my way to Prefuse 73 (aka Guillermo Scott Herren) and have been zoned out to his latest Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian. Here’s two songs that play back to back on the album that showoff its deep soundscapes and phat beats. Love the retro sci-fi cover!

I’ve been a big fan of the work of Scott Hansen (aka Tycho) for a long time now, both as an artist and as a musician. His latest EP, Coastal Brake, is set to release December 8th on 180 gram vinyl and for digital release in 320kbps MP3 and uncompressed WAV formats. The tracklist features the original by Tycho, and three remixes by Manual, Hatchback, and Lusine. And to top it off, a lithograph featuring alternate artwork for the album is tucked into each sleeve. You can preorder this limited edition vinyl (only 1000 copies) now at the ISO50 Shop; the first 50 copies sold will be signed and numbered by the man himself. Here are some audio samples.

British music producer Stephen Wilkinson, better known as Bibio, releases his first full length with Warp Records. Ambivalence Avenue is a unique blend of IDM, hip hop & folk. |

| Just a few months prior to Ambivalence, Bibio released Vignetting The Compost, a great folk album from start to finish, with lovely finger-picking guitar lines and soft vocals. For Ambivalence Avenue, Bibio threw in a wah-wah peddle & sampled in some heavy hip hop beats. He manages to keep hip hop & folk separate for the majority of the album, never really mixing the two. If you haven’t heard Bibio’s music before, I suggest getting a copy of Vignetting first, rather than diving straight into the genre rollercoaster ride that is Ambivalence. He couldn’t have chosen a better title for his latest release, and after hearing it you’ll definitely understand why. |
