The XX will be kicking off their latest tour on Jan. 2, 2010 with a DJ set at LPR in New York. I am very excited for this tour, and will be attending the DJ set. The DJ set will also feature the VHS or Beta Dee Jays. They will be opening for jj and Hot Chip on the tour. This album has been played at least once a week since I first received it this past summer. I really enjoy what these kids can do! “Islands” is one of the best tracks from the album. The vocals really work well with the background instrumentals; creating something energetic yet soothing. I really recommend checking out The XX if they are coming nearby. |

Islands new record Vapours just came out a few weeks ago on Anti- records. Nick Diamonds, formerly of The Unicorns, and now Island’s singer and front man, explores a lot of new sounds on this record. The songs are catchy and seem to be heavy on the rhythm section which I am a big fan of. I put the opening track “Switched On” up and I was singing along by the time the second chorus hit. Enjoy… |
