Here’s a sweet little collection of lo-fi, sample-heavy beat tracks from Miró Belle, Kiss This (Vol. 01). The tunes are all fairly short and seem to end abruptly, so they seem more like unfinished ideas than full songs. That only seems to add to the character and charm of each song, and to my enjoyment in listening to this EP. Kiss This has got this funky 70’s groove behind each beat that is extremely fun to listen to! Here are my two favorites.

Check out the debut self-titled release from Nomadic Firs, the bedroom psychedelic pop project of Ryan Boos. Largely inspired by his move to Tennessee with his wife to create a fully sustainable Urban Farm, the project is 4 years in the making and he’s finally ready to share it. Listen to the first single “Vines” below, and swing by his Souncloud page to hear his protest song for the Occupy movement titled “I’m A 99.”
All I needed to hear were the first 20 seconds of Gross Magic’s latest single “Sweetest Touch” to know that I absolutely love this band. Their 90’s infused lo-fi sound is an instant call-back to the times when power chords were a-plenty and Pete & Pete was the best show on television (still one of the greatest shows of all time might I add). Good times my friends, good times indeed. Gross Magic will release their debut album Teen Jamz through Fat Possum Records on October 11th, and you can catch them live in Brooklyn from October 13th thru the 15th.
In case you missed it… here is the video for Pictureplane’s track “Post Physical”. I am currently listening to this record, “Thee Physical” on repeat. The sensual dance jams drop on July 19, so grab the record here. Happy Friday!
Another great video from Jennifer Juniper Stratford for John Maus’s track “Head For the Country”. If you are in DC check him out at Black Cat on July 5. Go America!
I have been meaning to post this video for John Maus’s track “Believer” for a while now. The video was directed by Jennifer Juniper Stratford (check out her cool photographs here) and filmed on rare vintage video equipment using experimental techniques. OK…? This video gets kind of weird/spacey (obviously its John Maus) but I would like to think this is just the lens by which Maus views the world. Enjoy!
