The vibe at 619 Pearl St. on July 25th could not have been more laid back or chill (as was perfectly stated on Josh’s t-shirt). We all hung out in the backyard sipping on our ice cold beers and munching on hot dogs until a heavy downpour brought us indoors. And then there was music. Our friends Marmalakes & Mont Lyons both put on fantastic shows! Shout out to all those who came to hang out with us to mark our first year in the blogosphere! Cheers!

A little over a month ago we did a post on the up & coming Mont Lyons, who are currently working on their first EP release Sleep Talk. The guys have started a weekly video blog showcasing their latest material (& their sense of humor) up to the EP’s release later this year. Here are 2 great songs from the episodes:

With Brandon Crews on the guitar and Bryan Oliver behind the Rhodes, Mont Lyons are charging the indie music battle field with their sights set on joining the ranks of such folk-pop heroes as Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses. Do they have a long way to go? Hell yeah they do. But give their songs a good listen, and I think you’ll agree when I say that these guys have all the necessary ingredients. Seeing that both Oliver and Crews were both raised in an all a cappella church, rich vocal harmonies just seem to come naturally. Throw in a bass player and a drummer and these guys are ready to hit the road. Be on the lookout for their first EP, Sleep Talk, available near the end of 2009.
