Fleet Foxes and director Sean Pecknold created, in my opinion, the best music video of the year, transforming the band’s epic track “The Shrine/An Argument,” into an equally grandiose and transfixing animated short. Words do not do this video justice, it speaks for itself.
Check out this very surreal video from Theophilus London. He is by far doing some of the most interesting things in progressive hip-hop right now, both musically and aesthetically. With influences ranging from Blur to Wu-Tang Clan to Talking Heads it is really hard not to like him. If you are in DC check him out on October 3 at 930 Club. We will definitely be there nodding our heads and reviewing the show so check back soon for more.
Here’s a pretty kick ass music video from electronic rock band Galvanic Elephants. They sort of remind me of a more mellow Undoing of David Wright minus the trash-bag garbs and theatrics. This video is kick ass, I think I mentioned that before. The song is called “Moonstruck” and it’s off their debut EP title B Side, which you can download off their website or soundcloud page
Check out this great music video for “Fadeaway” by Deru directed by Sofia Garza-Barba. It’s got sort of a Clockwork Orange behavioral experiment feel to it, which means it’s disturbingly fascinating.
Cool little video for Power Animal’s “Dear My body”. Bands these days rarely take time to develop a song that takes you through several emotional movements. I don’t whether it is the fan’s attention span or band’s feel like that sort of development takes a whole album. Either way this song and video are great. Happy Friday dudes!
This music video has just about everything you could possibly want: floating champagne glasses, mad dance skills, singing animals, and a scenic canoe ride. Not to mention the song is easily one of my new favorites of 2011. I haven’t heard too much about Vacationer, but if he keeps putting out tunes like this one he’ll be a household name in no time.
Hailing from the UK, post-punk indie rockers Yuck just wrapped up their first U.S. tour, opening for Newdust favorites Smith Westerns. Here’s the video for “Get Away” from their self-titled debut full-length. This song instantly reminded me of the bands I was heavily into back in the early ’00s (think Hot Rod Circuit in particular), and those were good times my friends. Good times indeed.
