Best Friends hails from Chicago, and specializes in pop-dance gems. The production duo/band’s self-titled EP has been on repeat for days and some tracks have already made it on to my party/workout list. Check out the “video” for “So Far Away” above (my personal favorite off the EP), and the BANGER “Body Rock”. It is not hard to imagine Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, or even Katy Perry singing either of these songs. Grab Best Friends’ EP on iTunes (link here) and party down!

Evans The Death releases their self-titled debut in April, and from the sounds of the video for “I’m So Unclean” it’s going to be quite the head-banger. But the five-piece didn’t focus on any one particular sound throughout the twelve track debut, so the vibe of one song might not be the vibe of the next. They wanted to produce something unique to their own brand of pop, and far from what may or may not be currently fashionable. The result will no doubt be a debut to remember, as they have already received critical acclaim in the UK. Be on the lookout for more from this band, and definitely grab a copy of their debut on Slumberland Records in April.
Happy new year! We thought it would be fun to bring you our top 5 guilty pleasure pop songs of 2011. Don’t over think it nerds… Cheers!

Some DC on DC love today. Enjoy the Chris Burns dub of The Dance Party’s catchy joint, “Sing a Song”. Who doesn’t love a little Memorial Day beach-vibe on Christmas? Just let the grey skies and brisk cold melt away… Happy Friday dudes!

I’m usually not the biggest fan of singer/songwriters. For one to catch my eye (and ear) he or she needs to stand out, which seems to be more and more difficult with the awesome amount of music readily available to us with the push of a button. That being said, I can’t stop watching this video for Cate Le Bon’s latest single, “Fold The Cloth.” The Welsh songstress pulls from retro influences to create vocals that hint of Nico atop fuzzy guitar lines and buoyant keys. Her next release, CYRK is slated for a January 17 release in the United States via The Control Group.
It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of Twin Sister’s latest album In Heaven, released last week on Domino Records. Lead singer Andrea Estella still delivers that signature breathy vocal work throughout the majority of the album, and this time around guitar player Eric Cardona adds his voice to the mix in both “Stop”, and “Eastern Green”. Compared to their previous EP, In Heaven has a few tracks that vary from their usual 70s disco-pop sound. For example there’s a track that could almost pass for a James Bond theme (“Spain”), and a track that to me is an obvious nod to Steely Dan – which may or may not have been deliberate (“Gene Campi”). And this is why I’m always intrigued by what Twin Sister is doing, and what they’re going to do next. I have the utmost respect for these guys as musicians.
They aren’t a one trick pony, and their songwriting skills and musicianship continues to prove that this five-piece is the real deal. But at this point I’m just gushing, so you’ll have to check it out and see for yourself. Pick up the CD or LP at the Domino Records website, or you can stream the full album over at Stereogum.

Cosine knows what’s up. Their latest upcoming split joins New Zealand’s Motocade & Paris’s newly formed Concorde to deliver yet another extremely catchy release. These two tracks compliment each other wonderfully, with some killer guitar licks, synth lines, and harmonies. The perfect remedy for that dreadful case of the Mondays.
