Remember Dent May? Harlem-based songwriter Jesse Thompson has been regularly rolling with them since 2008, and he has released earlier this year another solo EP as Tommy Toussaint, his oh-so-sentimental vintage-pop moniker. Called “Computer Snacks”, this incredibly tight and outrageously ignored opus is a collection of unapologetically romantic songs “heavily informed by an extensive use of digital technology”. The result has the vibe and features of the highly improbable and heavenly gorgeous love child of the 1950’s and the 1980’s. And guess what? This banging, quirky number has a companion piece, and it ain’t a music video. It’s an 8-BIT MUSIC VIDEO GAME. Developed by Stephen Borden for Toussaint’s “I Don’t Wanna Cry”, it is available for free download here and is iOS-, Android- and web browser-friendly. On a scale of 1 to complete nerdy awesomeness, I think that this just blew my mind. Grab the full EP for free via Bad Panda Records.
