Wild Beasts – Two Dancers

Two Dancers is an album I could see Shakespeare totally getting into. The lyrics are very dramatic & dark, with equally engaging & beautiful instrumentals. The songs are quite theatrical, I can just see lead singer/songwriter Hayden Thorpe holding a human skull & serenading it in song. The music itself has a very unique sound: the precise drumming of Chris Talbot has somewhat of a tribal feel to it that’s accompanied by very quiet (for the most part), resonating bass & guitar lines that work together to create complex rhythms. There are a lot of great instrumental break downs throughout the album. Two Dancers is a lot to take in with just one listen, it’s got quite a few jaw-dropping moments. “The Fun Powder Plot” is track one from Two Dancers, definitely a great song to set the mood for the rest of the album. Also, here is a great video for “Hooting & Howling,” which just happens to be track two: |
